By his own admission, Ben Gumbleton makes quite a bit of music that falls into the dreamtronica genre. What is dreamtronica, you ask? Well, you might want to give Boo Seeka a listen if you want an answer to that.

Largely helmed by Ben (or Boo, as he’s commonly known), Boo Seeka have been on the scene since 2015, with a number of different collaborators working with Ben along the way. These days, it’s a duo which also features Jay Bainbridge of Golding, and together, they make some music which is equal parts powerful, progressive, and reflective.

It all kicked off with Never Too Soon back in 2017, which hit number eight on the Aussie charts. In 2022, we received Between The Head & The Heart, and just this year we saw the release of Midnight Highlight. No matter which part of the Boo Seeka story you join in on, you can be sure that you’re receiving music which is the result of creatives who are pushing themselves to hit lofty new heights.

Ahead of the end of their run of Aussie shows, and a few months before they head off to North America with Boy & Bear, Ben Gumbleton was kind enough to spend some of his time talking through the Boo Seeka story and opening up about his musical process.

I implore you to check out Boo Seeka’s Midnight Highlight, and once you’re done giving that a spin, have a listen to my chat with Ben, and I’ll see you at the end of the episode for some general housekeeping.
